A trip to Value Village

This morning I woke up shortly after 7am, unprompted by an alarm. I thought I'd take advantage of my early rise, so I got dressed and biked due East, in the direction of Pie IX, where casse-croute restaurants and thrift stores exist in bountiful harmony. I was tempted to go to my usual breakfast spot out there, called La Quebecoise, but I thought I'd try and expand my casse-croute repertoire, so I opted for someplace new. Now I know to stick with what I'm used to; breakfast was less plentiful and more expensive than my usual smoked meat-and-swiss cheese omlette. Anyway, my haul today was pretty meager. I came away with a pretty nice 3-tier spice rack and a plaid flannel shirt from Value Village, while Renaissance and Sally Am offered not much at all. Maybe next week.

Today in food:

2 eggs 'tourne' (over easy)
2 strips of bacon
2 pieces of white bread toast
2 cups of coffee
1 small portion of feves-au-lard
1 small slice of tomato
1 small piece of leftover trout, atop a portion of leftover couscous from last night

Now I'm making some chili, and the water's on the stove for a cup of hot cocoa. Winter is upon us in spirit, if not in name.

Finishing out the day:
1 large bowl of chili served over whole wheat spaghetti, topped with cheddar cheese + a dollop of mediterranean yogurt
1 small bowl of the same, sans yogurt
the remainder of my farmer's salad from last night
a few slices of cantaloupe
2 small beakers of tea with cream and honey
